While working on a new sample album this morning I came across this image I took from Elyse and Davids wedding last year. It really makes my day when I come across an image later in time that I never put much thought into earlier on. I think this photo tells many different stories. One of my goals this year for my photography is to amp up and imporove my photojournalistic skill set. What do you see in this photo? Comments, opinions?

March 25, 2010Erin + Brian | Edmonton Weddings
March 14, 2010It was about 12 or so years ago, at I think was my first job, at this place called Congo Bongo – a children’s fun centre – where I first became friends with Erin. Working at Congo Bongo was the kinda of job you base a sitcom or movie on. It was the most ridiculous, insane, fun, dramatic, bizarre, and disgusting place to work. The things I had to do for $5.90 an hour would make some of you very i’ll. These were the days before hand sanitizers could be found in every public building. Yet, when they shut the place down, it was a sad day for all of us. That place was legendary. A myth.
We all parted ways, some of us stayed friends, and we all finally had a chance grow up, and move on to bigger and better things. I was fortunate enough to stay friends with Erin, and keep a small piece of the Congo Bongo legend alive. Erin became very good friends with my wife, Lindsey, and had her as a member of her bridal party.
Erin used to tag along with me on out of town weddings back in the day, which gave her plenty of time to fill me in on the trials and tribulations of all her ex-boyfriends. I’ll never forget the wedding we shot in Whitecourt where I got to hear all the details about this new guy she met online after breaking up with her other boyfriend. What a relief this was. Finally, to hear things about a boyfriend of hers that wasn’t a jack-ass. And finally, many years later she marries Brian, a one-hundred percent standup guy, one of the most funniest, most intelligent people i’ve had the pleasure to know.
This wedding was a whirlwind of events – stressful, hilarious, and wacky. My wife was a bridesmaid, the florist, and emcee. Brian and Erin catered all the food themselves – probably the best pulled pork i’ve ever had.
All the best Erin and Brian. I look forward to many more years of insanity with both of you.
Hawaiiland – Trip to Hana and the Bamboo Forest
February 9, 2010Today we took the incredibly stunning drive to Hana. The road to Hana is rated one of the best drives in the world, and it’s obvious why. It’s a crazy drive with over 40 one way bridges, extremely narrow roads, with switchbacks like i’ve never seen before. We ended up doing a 2km hike through the rainforest to a spectacular bamboo forest.
