Playa del Carmen is a growing and booming city in Mexico. It has developed into tourist hotspot with fancy stores and chain restaurants. It’s basically Quintana Roos Banff. But just like Banff, if you venture off into the unbeaten path you can find what you went there for – which is what I did in Playa del Carmen. It’s a very relaxed city, full of color and friendly locals. I found it very apparent the unwelcomed spotlight that Playa del Carmen has become among those who live there – probably the same way those in Banff feel.
Here are a few shots from my afternoon spent in this city.
Cerveza por favor!

My amigo here was so thrilled with me taking his portrait with his bike he invited me to his birthday party tomorrow night at a place called Coco Bongo.
Somehow I agreed to bring the birthday cake.

Oooh Erik I love the third one down, it is so vibrant. And the spider web on the red flower – such detail!
