Weird. Hostage situation at discovery channel headquarters. I'd be pissed too - shark week should be two weeks long! # 2010/09/01

Engagement Session: Jennifer and Michael

July 15, 2009

Yesterday evening I had the extreme pleasure of photographing our good friends Jennifer and Michael. I am also lucky enough to be invited as a guest and photographer for their wedding next month in Kelowna B.C at the Summerhill Winery. Jennifer is very bubbly, outgoing, and true to heart. Michael, in the truest sense of the word, is a gentleman. He will always shake your hand and make you feel welcome – no matter where you are. He’ll even make you feel welcome in your own home. They are very lucky to have each other, and my fiance and I are very fortunate to have them as friends. I look forward to your wedding next month, and wish you nothing but happiness.

Sneak Peek: The Sheppard Family

July 12, 2009

Today was family photo time down at Hawerlak Park. I had the pleasure of photographing the Sheppard family on such a beautiful Sunday morning (except for the stinkin’ wind!). Check out the sneak peek below. I gave it that weathered and textured fine art look. Happy sunday everyone!

Casual saturdays

July 12, 2009

I felt naked today. It was a photoless Saturday, and quite frankly it was weird. Don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining at all, but I felt naked not having any photo jobs lined up. Also, Lindsey was away (and still is!) stagetting today and I was left to fend for myself and keep myself occupied. I wasn’t even left with a list of things to do (am I being tested?)! I’m sure there must be wedding planning things that needed to be done, but I don’t know what they are (again, am I being tested?). I completed a few items on my personal list of things to do, but I basically took the day easy as I know a day like this might not happen again until next year.

Once the evening rolled around I developed a burning urge to press the shutter button. I leashed up Feli, she grabbed her bumble bee, and we set off on a photo safari. I took a total of four photos, and, I wont lie, I deleted two of them. Apparently, I can’t seem to focus on taking photos while ensuring the dog doesn’t get hit by a car or take off chasing some birds (what the hell is with Feli and chasing birds anyway? she’ll never catch one! her “im gonna get you” bark isn’t exactly all that stealthly). After tossing the bumble bee around for a while, I managed to grab three shots of Feli laying down, and then another one walking back home while she carried her chewable and squeaky kill between her jaws.

It’s 11pm right now and i’m just hanging out on the balcony, blogging, drinking tall glass of grape juice, and Feli is asleep on the chair to my left. I’m going to stay here for a bit and observe the other condo tenants as they drunkingly climb out of their cabs after they arrive home from Club Malibu and break up with their girlfriend/boyfriend for the third time this week beneath the lamp next to the Edmonton Journal box.

Feli is asleep right here, twitching and growling in her dreams. It’s to adorable for me to not post a photo. For you photographers, I shot this at ISO 12,800 on the 5D Mark II in pretty much complete darkness other than the glow from my laptop and lights from the street. Amazing.

Here’s to more casual Saturdays. I can’t wait for the next. Thank you for stopping by and goodnight.

My Nephew: Little Baby Henry

July 8, 2009

So i’m very late with this post and photos. Little Henry was born May 30th, 2009 at the Miseracordia.  Technically, Henry isn’t my nephew yet but he will be officially in a week and a half.  Below are just a few shots from the evening.  Isn’t Henry amazingly adorable? I can’t wait to get through the rest of the photos!

Erica and Stephen!

July 5, 2009

Happy Sunday everyone!  I’m putting this post together from the comfort of my chair recuperating from last nights wedding.  My muscles (what very few that I have) are being held into an upright position by the comfort of this chair.  Photography can really kick my butt sometimes. Below are some photos from the crazy-antics filled bridal party photos.  First, starting off at a top secret location, then walking around downtown city center, and ending up at the Ramada.  The bridal party were hilarious to be around.  I didn’t have to rely on my bad jokes to get a chuckle.

Thank you Erica and Stephen for your hospitality throughout the day!
